Accommodation  Ground floor: Dining kitchen, living room (open fire), sunroom/conservatory, WC/shower room. Upper floor: King size double bedroom, twin bedroom, connecting bathroom with WC and shower over bath.


External  Garden open to shingle beach and tidal tank/jetty, garage, workshop and ice house.


Bed linen  Bed linen is provided and beds will be made up prior to your arrival. If you are staying for more than one week, fresh bedding will be offered at the end of each week and used bedding collected by our caretaker


Towels  We do not provide personal towels, there are tea towels and small hand towels.


Heating  Electricity and oil is included in the rental price. However, coal or peat is not and any used should be replaced. Coal can be purchased from the Aywick shop (see below). An electric fire is also provided should this be preferred.  EPC energy rating F.


Entertainment TV with Freeview, Bluetooth soundbar and DVD player. There is also a CD player with iPod dock. The house has a small library of DVDs, books and games. WiFi Broadband is available.


Telephone  BT landline telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.  All calls must be paid for using the honesty box provided.  


Provisions / Groceries  In Lerwick there are two major supermarkets, Tesco and the Co op.

 The Aywick shop, located approx. 4 miles from Burravoe, has most supplies (including coal), petrol is also available at Aywick.  


Access and grounds  Access to Overby is by approx. 200m of private track from the public road with generous parking adjacent to the house. Guests are advised that the grounds slope steeply from the garden in front of the house down to the sea and appropriate care should be taken at all times. This may not be suitable for small children or the infirm.  


Sorry no pets  This is due to the occasional straying sheep and with consideration to local wildlife.


Inter island ferry bookings  You can book inter island ferry crossings online or by telephoning the booking office (01595) 745804. Ferries between the North Isles (Fetlar, Unst and Yell) sail from Gutcher.  See https://www.shetland.gov.uk/ferries


Leisure facilities on Yell  Mid Yell has a leisure centre and swimming pool and offers a range of activities, including fitness suite, solarium, squash, badminton, tennis, carpet bowls, etc.


The Old Haa Museum  In Burravoe, originally a seventeenth century laird’s house, the Old Haa has as its main themes, local / natural history and offers an art gallery, tea room and craft shop. Late April to September (closed Monday and Friday).


Activities  Overby has many great walks from the door, around Heoga Ness, or northwards to the Horse of Burravoe and cliffs at Ramnageo with a small colony of puffins and other seabirds (summer months). Secure cycle storage. Walk Highlands North Isles Walks


Arrival and departure  The house will be ready for arrival from 4.00pm on the first day of your booking, and guests are requested to depart no later than 10.00am at the end of their holiday to allow time for the house to be prepared for the next visitors.
